How many times have you looked at your craft supplies and thought, I really should use that?
Maybe it’s a stamp set you fell in love with. Maybe it’s a beautiful package of Designer Series Paper you couldn’t resist. A collection of embellishments you’ve been saving for the “perfect” project.
And somehow, those supplies are still sitting there.
Sound familiar?
That’s one reason I’m introducing a new series here on Bonnie Creates called Choose It AND Use It.
It’s Time to Stop Saving Our Supplies
For years, a little guilt has been attached to having craft supplies.
We buy something we love, and then we don’t use it right away. Before long, we have a collection of things waiting for the right occasion, the right idea, or enough time.
But what if we stopped thinking about what we should use and simply chose what we wanted to use?
That’s the idea behind Choose It AND Use It.
I’m not here to challenge you to use every scrap of paper or finish every stamp set before you buy something new.
I’m inviting you to choose something you already have and actually enjoy using it.
Keep It Simple
One thing I love about card making is that it doesn’t have to be complicated.
Sometimes all you need is:
- A stamp set you love
- A few coordinating colours
- A piece of Designer Series Paper
- A simple card sketch
- A little bit of time
That’s it.
You don’t need a complicated technique or a four-hour crafting session to make something worthwhile.
A simple card can still be beautiful.
And more importantly, making that card can feel really good.
Choose It AND Use It With Friends
This series isn’t just about using our supplies. It’s also about enjoying the process.
Invite a friend over.
Take your supplies to a crafting get-together.
Work on the same sketch together and see how differently your cards turn out.
Share ideas. Share supplies. Share a laugh or two.
Because sometimes the best part of crafting isn’t the finished card. It’s the time we spend creating it.
What Can You Expect From This Series?
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing simple ideas to help you Choose It AND Use It.
We’ll look at:
Simple card making — because you don’t need complicated projects to be creative.
Quick and easy sketches — so you don’t have to start with a blank piece of cardstock and wonder what to do.
Using what you already have — especially those products you’ve been saving for “someday.”
Gathering with friends — because creativity is even more fun when we share it.
And, of course, lots of cards!
My goal isn’t to give you another challenge or another thing you have to do.
It’s to nudge you to walk into your craft space, pick something you love, and make something.
So, What Will You Choose?
Take a look around your craft space.
What’s something you’ve been saving?
Maybe it’s a stamp set.
Maybe it’s that gorgeous Designer Series Paper.
Maybe it’s a colour combination you’ve been wanting to try.
Maybe it’s something you bought months ago and haven’t even opened yet.
Choose it.
Then use it.
It doesn’t have to be perfect.
It doesn’t have to be complicated.
And it doesn’t even have to take very long.
Just make something.
Because our craft supplies aren’t here to make us feel guilty.
They’re here to help us create.
And that’s what Choose It AND Use It is all about.
So, are you ready to choose something and use it?
I am!
Let’s get creating.
Keep Creating,
Bonnie 💜
