Here is the project that I have made for our hop today.
This week I am showcasing the Seriously The Best stamp set from the January – June 2020 Mini Catalog. There is also a Seriously The Best project kit that coordinates with the stamp set. I find that the project kits are just what I need to kickstart some creativity mojo. Sometimes I just create the kit as is. Sometimes I like to take the given pieces and create something out of the box.
The card on the right is the card as instructed in the kit. The cards on the left are created with the same pieces plus extra card bases. To start off, I trimmed the provided card base into 2 – 4″ X 5 1/4″ pieces. Keep those little scraps for trim!
Want to see what I came up with? Remember this the card from the kit.
For my first alternate, I kept mainly to the same design. I used the terracotta piece to adhere to a Whisper White Thick card base. I use the little scraps of patterned pieces to the top and bottom edge, just to give some more interest. The rest of the card is just like the original.
For the second card that I created, I really wanted to highlight the patterned piece. With such a busy pattern, I wanted to use one of the bold greetings from the stamp set to stand out. I heat embossed the Congrats and the trio of flowers in copper embossing powder. (I do love the copper, but honestly, I think it would have been more vibrant if I had used the gold embossing powder.)
What do you enjoy about Stampin’ Up!’s project kits?
