Hello!
Embossing is defined as to carve, mold, or stamp a design on (a surface) so that it stands out in relief. It is a versatile way to add texture to your creations.
Stampin’ Up! offers two ways to emboss — the first is heat embossing. The embossing is created by using a sticky ink (versamark) to adhere embossing powder to the card. Heat is then applied that melts the embossing powder, making it permanent. The greeting on this card is heat embossed in white embossing powder.
The second way to emboss is to use an embossing folder to press the design into the paper. Stampin’ Up! offers both embossing and 3D embossing folders. 3D embossing folders add a bit more depth to the image. The background on this card is created with an embossing folder.
